Free workshop in York for the Hospitality and Tourism sector

Hospitality and tourism businesses can benefit from The Skills Service’s Skills Café event this September.

SMEs in hospitality and tourism are being offered a free leadership workshop to get a flavour of the training available through The Skills Service which is eligible for 40% funding from the European Social Fund.

In conjunction with Make It York, The Skills Service surveyed the sector on the skills they feel are most in demand, and the overwhelming answer was leadership. The workshop, ‘Leadership in the hospitality and tourism sector’ will take place at Micklegate Social, in central York from 9am until 11am on Thursday 26 September. Businesses can book up to four places per workshop per company.

Business HorsePower, a specialist training provider in leadership and management and contracted training providers of The Skills Service, will provide the tailored workshop.

Trainer, Julia Felton is a leadership and team specialist with a passion for hospitality and tourism who has been hired by business owners to transform their results by unleashing the hidden potential in their organisations. Julia believes that extra-ordinary results are achieved through building powerful, engaged teams and creating organisational alignment, all possible through good leadership.

Millennials and Gen Z are estimated to make up over half the world’s population and together account for most of the global workforce. As this demographic is one of the sector’s largest sources of manpower, this session will delve into how to engage them so they deliver more productivity and profitability to your business. In this interactive and high energy masterclass businesses will examine the topic of leadership in hospitality and tourism, and what it takes to be an engaging leader. Businesses can book on Eventbrite.

Alongside the workshop, you can join The Skills Service’s team of skills advisors who will be based at Micklegate Social for the whole morning. Grab a free coffee to discuss what help your business can get with workforce training and access to European Social Fund (ESF) funding. You can register or just drop in.
