AMT Headingley Stadium is set to host a special mental health fundraiser on Thursday 14th March. The event called Demon Charmers Podcast Live is the brainchild of respected sports psychology consultant, coach, and author, Simon Hartley.
The evening will include two live recordings of The Demon Charmers Podcast featuring Stevie Ward, Leeds Rhinos rugby league legend turned mental health ambassador, and Gail Emms MBE, a former badminton world champion and 2004 Olympic silver medalist. They will be sharing their inspirational and humbling journeys through their own mental health challenges.
Talking about the Demon Charmers Podcast Simon said, “We have been running the podcast for a year or so now, but I wanted to take the show out on the road to start face-to-face conversations about mental wellbeing and resilience. It is such an important issue that can affect any one of us.”
“We all have demons. That voice in your head that chips away at you constantly pelting you with doubts, criticism, and self-judgement. This event will help people understand they are not alone and that there are ways we can help support ourselves and others.”
Stevie Ward added: “I cannot wait for the Demon Charmers event. The conversation around mental health is forever deepening and becoming more and more relatable for our everyday lives; these events help build incredible connection and tools as a springboard to more fulfilled lives, embracing mental health, not in spite of it.”
The evening will raise funds for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation with a prize draw and an auction for signed memorabilia and hospitality packages up for grabs. The Foundation is dedicated to using the power of sport to transform lives and create opportunities for the people of Yorkshire.
Tickets for Demon Charmers Live event cost £95 plus VAT and can be purchased on the www.demoncharmerslive.comwebsite.
Simon Hartley concluded: “I am excited to be working with such fantastic guests in Stevie and Gail and such a wonderful cause with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation. It is going to be a wonderful night!”
