Building a successful business is one thing. Enjoying the life that comes with it is another.
Adam Smith has spent the past five years helping ambitious people examine the relationship between professional success and personal wellbeing.
As co-founder of Leeds-based A-Game, alongside Adam Mayhew, he's worked with more than 500 clients, including professional athletes, entrepreneurs and people from organisations such as Amazon and Dell.
His background isn't conventional. Before establishing A-Game, Adam worked in hospitality. A growing interest in human behaviour led him into coaching, with a particular focus on the habits, beliefs and decisions that influence how people perform.
Today, he's an entrepreneur, NLP practitioner, coach and host of the A-Game Unfiltered podcast. He's also built a substantial social media audience by talking openly about business, confidence, relationships and the pressures of achievement.
A-Game is developing a private network for ambitious founders, leaders and execs - combining coaching, accountability, business introductions, events and shared experiences.
It's a move towards something more personal. Less time behind screens, more time in rooms with people who understand the realities of building and running a business.
For Adam, the question isn't simply how to make a business more successful. It's whether the person running it is getting what they wanted from success in the first place.
