Founder of Card Factory and Chairman of Huddersfield Town FC
Dean Hoyle and his wife Janet founded the Wakefield based Card Factory, a chain of greeting card and gift stores in 1997. Fast forward 12 years later to 2009 and the company had over 500 stores, employing in excess of 5,000 people and came to the attention of London based equity firm Charterhouse. In 2010 Dean sold the business for a reported £350m.
Dean still retains a role in the business as non-executive Chairman but now relishes his full time role as Chairman of Huddersfield Town FC. A life-long supporter, Dean is passionate abut making the club a viable business.
Dean is a big supporter of The Yorkshire Mafia and spoke at the inaugural conference in March 2011 as part of the Billion Pound Panel. He believes that The Yorkshire Mafia encourages local businesses to work together.
The Yorkshire Mafia inspire and encourage local businesses to work together to achieve success. The Yorkshire region is becoming a real ‘hub’ for business and I feel truly honoured to be associated with an organisation that is making this happen. Speaking at the Yorkshire Mafia conference gave me a chance to communicate with local entrepreneurs and business people and I hope to continue this relationship at other Yorkshire Mafia events.
