Season of Goodwill comes early to The Yorkshire Mafia
This November saw The Yorkshire Marketing Mafia host a sell-out Skill-Will event where charities met with highly skilled professionals prepared to donate their time and expertise. The event was such as success that plans are already in place to hold a second Skill-Will event in February.
Career professionals from the world of finance, marketing, HR, law and general business were on hand to pledge much needed expertise and time to the charities, enabling them to put the skills learnt into practice in order to encourage future growth and success.
Representatives from both Charities and businesses alike enjoyed the event at The New Ellington Hotel, Leeds, with both parties walking away having learned something new.
I attended the Skill-Will Event in Leeds on 24 November and it was everything I hoped for and more. I couldn’t have dreamed that there would be so many people willing to pass on their knowledge and skills to help the struggling voluntary sector. I made so many valuable contacts.
It was the best evening I’ve spent in a long time and I cannot wait for the next one. I stopped believing in Santa a long time ago; now, I’m not so sure.

All too often when the word “Charity” is mentioned the immediate thoughts are donation and how much. However last night I learned a great deal about the varying needs of charities and the many ways in which they are happy to accept help from volunteers and business professionals.
As a business owner I am well aware of the benefits available through linking with the right organisations. Charities should be jumping at your offer to attend Skill Will 2.
